Starting out as a young child, singing on a record when most children that age are barely even able to talk, has guaranteed that you have one of the most unique stories in all country music and it cemented your place in the annals of Country Music history! And on top of that you have a direct tie to the Father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers and through your dad Bennie Hess, who is also considered to be a music legend himself! You are a true star!

As a honorary member of “Country Music Royalty”, Troy Hess has been delighting his fans since his first performance with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys at the age of 2 years old. With decades of performance from coast to coast, Troy Hess has been privileged to share the stage with top country artists such as Ernest Tubb, Marty Stuart, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Porter Waggoner, Hank Thompson, Mel Tillis, Conway Twitty, Mel Street, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Montana, George Jones and the list goes on and on…
At the suggestion of his sound recording colleague Bob Wills, Troy’s father, Bennie Hess, started producing Troy’s singles and releasing them on Showland Record label. Some of the songs released by Troy were: Money Tree, When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again, Bayou Boogie, Old Sam, Jambalaya, You Oughta See Pickles Now, Mystery Train, I Forgot To Remember To Forget and Troy Hess Boogie.
[In the 1960’s & 1970’s] Troy Hess was indeed a touchstone figure of Nashville and it’s times. Troy Hess has lived on in my mind as one of the legends of those times in Music City and I often wondered what became of him…Troy Hess finally played the stage of the Ryman Auditorium, I went home with Jimmie Rodger’s guitar and two former country music kids got to shake hands and become pals.
